Romance. Derived from the Latin Romanicus meaning from Rome. Is it any wonder that Italy and love are so intrinsically linked? Romeo and Juliet. Verona. Amore. If you’re thinking of tying the knot, there is little better than an Italian wedding. If you have your heart set on tying the knot in the land of romance, how about considering Calabria. When it comes to beauty Calabria has it all and with amazing food and great weather, there is more than one reason to say “I do“.
The scenery, the food, the weather make choosing Calabria as your unique wedding destination a simple decision. Steeped in tradition and yet relatively easy to organise, here are a few of my favourite locations in Calabria which are fitting for the most perfect day of your life.
Villa Caristo, Stignano (RC)
Stepping into Villa Caristo is like stepping back in time, this 18th Century villa with views of the sea will leave your jaw firmly dropped. Beautiful gardens, baroque architecture and plenty of stunning places to host both your ceremony and reception, this really would provide a fairytale wedding.
Villa Chiringuito, Villa San Giovanni (RC)
Dreaming of a destination wedding? Marry on the beach with the waves lapping against the shore and views of Sicily or Stromboli smoking in the background. Make the most of Calabria’s fantastic climate and take in the fantastic coast as you say I do.
Tenuta Calivello, Catanzaro
Just outside Catanzaro is this impressive manor with sprawling landscapes and breathtaking views. Surrounded by nature and Calabrese countryside this is the perfect location for a rustic Italian wedding.
Villa Zerbi, Taurianova (RC)
Flowers and love go hand in hand so imagine saying your vows in a beautiful garden surrounded by flowers. Villa Zerbi is an 18th Century Baroque villa whose grounds evoke memories of traditional Calabrese nobility. For nature lovers this location is a must.
Palazzo del Capo, Cosenza
Every bride dreams of a fairytale wedding so what could be more perfect than marrying in a beachfront castle, dating back to the 11th century, overlooking the Tyrrhenian sea. With a wide range of locations for your ceremony, Palazzo del Capo is a splendid location to create life long memories.
These are just a few of many gorgeous locations where you can host your perfect day. For more information on marrying in Italy check out my post here.
